December 2013 - 5 year maintenance contract for Re-furbished Van Gelder

Following our re-furbishment of the Belgian Air Cadets 4 drum MEL/Van Gelder winch at the start of the season, Skylaunch has now been awarded a 5 year maintenance, development and full support contract.
December 2013 - Service & upgrades for early Twin Drum

A very early model Twin Drum winch is returned to Skylaunch from Bath and Wilts Gliding Club for a service and upgrades to the later specifications.

This winch was built nearly a hundred winches ago and all the major components (engine, transmission, final drive etc) are all still in very good working condition.

The winch is using steel cable
November 2013 - Mike receives Royal Aero Club award

Mike Groves, the designer and founder of Skylaunch has received an award from the Royal Aero Club for service to Aviation and Sporting Aviation.
October 2013 - Re-engineered Tost winch in France

A fully re-engineered Tost winch (New 8.2 litre engine fuelled by LPG) using Skyrope cables is delivered to VoV Yonnais in La Roche Sur Yon in France.

September 2013 - Cambridge order new Skylaunch Evo

A new Skylaunch Evo twin drum winch (8.2 litre fuelled by LPG) is ordered by the Cambridge Gliding Club in England.  
August 2013 - RAF Bicester in England

A new Skylaunch Evo twin drum winch (8.2 litre engine fuelled by LPG) is delivered to the very busy Windrushers Gliding club at RAF Bicester. This winch is using Dyneema cables.
July 2013 - Retrieve winch for Brazil

A new Skylaunch cable retrieve winch (fueled by petrol) is shipped to the Brazilian Air Force. This winch was supplied with Steel and Dyneema cables. This is operating alongside their new main winch.

A team of 4 specialised instructors flew out in August (2 Winch Drivers / 2 Pilots) and gave a full training program.
June 2013 - Skylaunch in Brazil

A new Skylaunch Evo twin drum winch (8.2 litre EFI engine fueled by petrol) is shipped to the Brazilian Air Force. This winch was supplied with Steel, Skyrope and Dyneema cables. Runway length allows up to 2000m of cable length.

May 2013 - Skylaunch in the Pyrenees

A new Skylaunch Evo twin drum winch (7.4 litre EFI engine fuelled by Petrol) is delivered to Luchon Gliding club in the beautiful French Pyrenees. This winch is using Skyrope cable on their 800m airfield.
April 2013 - Successful exhibition at Aero 2013

A very successful exhibition for us at Aero 2013. Many thanks to all of you that visited us on the stand
April 2013 - RAF GSA Upgrades

Another one of the fleet of RAF GSA (Royal Air Force Gliding and Soaring Association) original Skylaunch winches from RAF Wittering (Four Counties GC) has a paint re-spray and upgrades to the later specifications (automatic tow-out brakes, new cable pulley / roller units and a full service). All major components (engine / transmission / final drive etc) are still in very good working order and only require oils and filters to be changed. This winch is now using Dyneema cable
April 2013 - Refurb for "Harry" the tractor

A valued customer who knew that we do refurbishments of winches, asked if we could give 'Harry' the tractor an overhaul. 
March 2013 - Belgian winch refurbishment completed

The refurbishment of the Mel / Van Gelder winch is completed and returned to the Belgian Air Cadets much to their delight. They were especially impressed with the speed of the works, which included two days of successful test launches / handover. 

April 2013 - Skylaunch exhibit at Aero 2013

Skylaunch will again be exhibiting at Aero 2013 in Friedrichshafen (Germany). This time we plan to show a new Skylaunch 2 Evo twin drum winch. Please come and visit us in Hall A1 – Stand 400. 
March 2013 - Windrushers order Skylaunch Evo

A new Skylaunch Evo twin drum winch is ordered by Windrushers Gliding Club (RAF Bicester), England.
  February 2013 - Luchon (Toulouse) order Skylaunch Evo

A new Skylaunch Evo twin drum winch is ordered by Luchon Gliding Club, Toulouse, France.  
January 2013 - Belgian winch delivered for re-furbishment

A Mel / Vangelder winch is delivered to Skylaunch HQ  from the Belgium Air Cadets for full refurbishment.
